Moat Boat Paddle Battle at World Maker Faire NY

At Ultimaker we like a contest just as much as the next guy, and after experiencing the fun of Moat Boat Paddle Battle at Maker Faire Bay Area we couldn't wait to give this another spin!

Moat Boat Paddle Battle is a derby for rubber-band powered, 3D-printed watercrafts taking place at World Maker Faire New York this weekend – September 26th and 27th. Not excited yet? Check out this video and get your sea legs on!

To support makers in our community who would like to complete their boats in time for the Paddle Battle, we teamed up with 3DHubs, OSMM, and Tinkercad to offer a 3D design workshop on Wednesday, September 23rd. We will be providing Ultimaker 3D printers at the workshop so that you can test your ideas.

The latest information for the Moat Boat Paddle Battle can be found on their website, but the key details are the following:

  • Make sure to read the Race Rules before designing your boat. (Pay particular attention to the rules for the separate Youth and Open Classes.)
  • Register your boat on this form here. (No walkups allowed!)
  • Races will be on Sunday. Access to the racing troughs will be available to registered participants at the MBPB booth at Maker Faire on Saturday.
  • Race winners could go home with a 3D Printer.

We hope to see you there!
