The Great Indoors Award 2015 ceremony

At the 31st of October the winners of the Great Indoors Award 2015 were chosen during an award ceremony in Maastricht, the Netherlands. To celebrate the rise of 3D printing technology in interior design, the awards presented to the winners were specially modelled after this edition's logo and then 3D printed on Ultimaker 3D printers.

Great Indoors Awards

The Great Indoors Award is an international, biennial award for interior designers that aims to reward those who value innovation and excellence in their work. Their goal is to to elevate the profession of interior designer by providing them with a platform where they can prompt debate and disperse information on interior design, whilst also showing their work off the world.

The winners of the 2015 awards were:

  • Relax & Consume Leisure: hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, spas, wellness centresWon by INDIA MAHDAVI (FR) for THE GALLERY AT SKETCH, LONDON 2014
  • Concentrate & Collaborate Work: offices, studios, administration buildings, conference centresWon by RAAAF (NL) for THE END OF SITTING, AMSTERDAM 2014
  • Serve & Facilitate Public: libraries, hospitals, theatres, schoolsWon by ALLESWIRDGUT ARCHITECTS (AT) for the MAGDAS HOTEL WIEN, VIENNA 2015

In total 271 submissions from 39 countries were sent in to the Great Indoors Award 2015. The submissions were evaluated by an international jury, including amongst its members the curator of the Victoria and Albert museum, the co-CEO of Vitra and the directors of ECAL and the London Design Museum. They had their job cut out for them whittling the list of submissions down to twenty nominees, five in each category. During the award ceremony each winner received their 3D printed award and a €5.000 prize.
