Today at CES we’re releasing our most advanced 3D printers yet, the Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+. The DNA of these highly innovative printers is a testament to the community-driven energy that went into creating them.
Ever since we started we have a strong passion for being open source, sharing our ideas and listening to the creativity and suggestions of our community to improve our printers. This process has continually pushed the boundaries and made our innovative solutions possible.
Here are a few of the enhancements inside the new Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ that have been inspired by our expert community:
Interchangeable nozzles: Thanks to the Olsson Block, invented by Anders Olsson, you now have the freedom to change nozzles in a matter of seconds. This makes working with different materials easier, maintenance is simplified and it also gives you the ability to choose between highly detailed prints or high speed prints.
Powerful geared feeder: The new feeder on the Ultimaker 2+ pushes the filament into the print head with ease. It gives makers the freedom to quickly control the pressure, so for example with softer filaments, the pressure can be set lower.
Optimised cooling: The new fans are barely audible, whilst the new fancaps ensure the airflow is aimed perfectly below the nozzle and equally from both sides. This creates improved surface quality with astonishing print results.
Other great features include a powerful 35 Watt heater cartridge which not only heats the nozzle in under a minute, but also allows for really fast prints. Like all other Ultimaker printers, it uses an open filament system so you are able to use any kind of filament you want to get precisely the finish you’re after. And due to the interchangeable nozzles, you can go from 600 microns all the way down to a finely detailed 20 microns. This gives you the freedom to create really fast drafts, detailed prints and everything in between.
The Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ are the result of countless collaborations and insightful feedback we’ve received from the Ultimaker community.
“We are excited to release two new 3D printers at CES this year,” says Jos Burger, CEO of Ultimaker. “The Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ are the result of countless collaborations and insightful feedback we’ve received from the Ultimaker community. Both printers feature crucial upgrades based on what our customers are looking for in a 3D printer.”
The Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended+ are now available for purchase worldwide, from your authorized local reseller.
