We’re proud of our team at Ultimaker – and we know that without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Our Inside Ultimaker series gives you the chance to hear from one of our team members and learn more about what it’s really like to work with us.
Every great product needs a talented assembly team behind it. We’re lucky to have Jorge as an assembly operator, who works at our production facility in Zaltbommel. He’s always extremely busy throughout the day; building pre-assembled parts, assembling complete printers, or repairing printers that haven’t made it through quality control.
We found out a bit more about Jorge, what he loves best about his job, and what he gets up to in his spare time!
Prior to working at Ultimaker
Before Jorge joined the team at Ultimaker, he studied Advertising and Marketing. However, he was always fascinated by electronics and networks and explored this further with Oracle Database administration.
Jorge tells us that he really enjoys working here, and finds the job rewarding. “It’s really interesting, entertaining and analytical,” he elaborates. “My colleagues are also very social and help me a lot, and it just feels like being part of a big family. I’m finding that I learn and grow more every day, and that’s really important for me.”
He adds: “Ultimaker is still a young company, and I’m looking forward to growing as the company grows – expanding my knowledge of electronics.”
When he’s not hard at work, Jorge loves to read books, especially if they’re about travel, publicity, or sports. He’s also a keen writer, regularly producing short stories; and he also loves to watch movies, particularly Gifted Hands, which is his favorite. Best of all, he’s a father to an energetic 9-year old son, and loves nothing more than spending time with him. He’s a big family man, and nothing makes him happier than when he’s reunited with his whole family at Christmas.
Amazingly, despite being so busy at work, Jorge has also found the time to start writing a book on drama. Very impressive!

That’s easy, it would have to be the dinosaur. My son absolutely loved it!
