In late April, we introduced the latest and largest addition to Ultimaker's line of professional desktop 3D printers to North America audiences at the RAPID conference and expo. In order to showcase the new Ultimaker S5 and its diverse range of professional applications for those who didn't have a chance to check it out in Fort Worth, we are taking the Ultimaker S5 on a roadshow across the continent to introduce new audiences to Ultimaker’s distinguished ecosystem of hardware, software, and materials at a select number of regional events.
Don’t miss this opportunity to preview the Ultimaker S5 before it’s publicly available!
Join us for one of our evening events in your area:
- May 11th - Greater Chicago Area (special guests: MakerGirl)
- May 17th - New York City/Brooklyn
- May 23rd - Greater Detroit Area (special guests: Tucci Hot Rods)
Check back as we add more locations and activities! In the meantime, here are some highlights of the Ultimaker Roadshow so far this year, stretching back to March before the launch of the Ultimaker S5.
Houston-Area Roadshow highlights
This year, our Roadshow began in Houston, TX., the most populous city in Texas and the fourth-most populous city in the United States. We visited several departments and labs at Rice University, including the Rice Architecture fabrication lab (this program has been using Ultimaker machines since the Original+). Professor Jordan Miller has been using modified Ultimaker printers and other machines for cutting-edge exploration into tissue generation research.
Across town to the west, the brand new 10,000 square foot MakerSpace at Houston Community College featured eleven Ultimaker 3 machines to serve diverse academic purposes from professors, instructors, and students. And in the far south of Houston near NASA, we spent an evening with current and retired aerospace and oil industry engineers at the Freeman Branch Library. We also took time to visit nearby Galveston, and the Ultimaker 2+ in the Maker Health Lab at UTMB.
Portland-Area Roadshow highlights
For Design Week Portland, we co-hosted a master class for 3D studio artists at the Wacom Experience Center, participated in a Design Week Portland open house with our local partners, and teased the Ultimaker S5 launch at a special Ultimaker edition of the Portland 3D Printing Lab community meetup!
Greater Los Angeles Area highlights
One week after its launch, the first of our Ultimaker S5 Roadshow events started in the Greater Los Angeles Area down in Orange County. What better way to introduce new users to our latest machine than a taco party outside in a gorgeous California evening, while hoards of 3D printing fans tested their own designs for pucks in a custom-built DIY Plinko set.
Stay tuned for more Ultimaker S5 Roadshow updates from the North American Community team!
