With the launch of the new Ultimaker S5 prompting buzz across the globe in late April, the Ultimaker team set out to engage attendees at two prominent engineering and manufacturing shows: Hannover Messe and Rapid + TCT.

Both events were an opportunity for the Ultimaker team from both sides of the world to highlight new Ultimaker developments, with live demonstrations for designers, engineers, architects, and other professional users.

The most exciting announcement to make was the official unveiling of the latest addition to our line of 3D printers, the new Ultimaker S5. With a large build volume, effortless operation, and unparalleled reliability, the Ultimaker S5 is a printer that delivers industrial-grade results.

In addition to the Ultimaker S5, we were excited to announce our new alliances with industry-leading materials companies that will further enrich Ultimaker 3D printer compatibility with a variety of engineering materials, as well as our latest software products.

Hannover Messe, known as the world’s largest and most inclusive trade fair for industrial technology experts and enthusiasts, kicked off on April 23rd with more than 5,000 exhibitors and over 200,000 visitors from all over the world.

Ultimaker team members were excited to engage with guests for the launch, which included a widely attended press conference with Ultimaker's co-founder and CTO Siert Wijnia, and Senior VP of Product Management Paul Heiden, in which the Ultimaker S5, Tough PLA, and our material alliances were announced to the world.

As Ultimaker’s first time exhibiting at this show, and the first public appearance of the Ultimaker S5, we were delighted with the positive response that we received. Our booth was crowded with excited visitors from all over the world who were eager to find out more about our latest developments.

The Ultimaker S5 at Rapid + TCT

Shortly after the launch at Hannover Messe, an additional crew of Ultimaker employees celebrated our new desktop 3D printer at Rapid + TCT in Fort Worth, Texas. The show ran from April 23rd to 25th, bringing together leaders in the additive manufacturing space. Over 300 exhibitors and 6,000 industry peers attended the conference, which featured presentations, workshops, and networking receptions for guests.

The Ultimaker team in Texas had print and material samples on hand to discuss the wide range of possibilities and 3D printing applications that Ultimaker brings to the table with our products, software, and partnerships. Rapid + TCT attendees who visited the Ultimaker booth were eager to catch a first glimpse of the Ultimaker S5 and experience the desktop 3D printer’s impressive features for themselves, such as active leveling and the filament flow sensor.

Our application engineer Peter Ho was on hand to conduct a Facebook live stream video that explained the features for those who couldn’t yet experience the printer in person. “The live stream was a great way for us to introduce the world to our latest achievements in professional desktop 3D printing,” says Peter.
