This refers to a problem with the PT100 sensor, which is the sensor that measures the temperature of the nozzle. It means that the sensor registers incorrect values and due to safety reasons it will prevent the nozzle from heating up. The most likely reason for this is connection problem, which could either happen due to a bad connection at the main board or damage of the sensor itself.
Make sure to always turn the Ultimaker off and disconnect the power supply before troubleshooting this error.
To check if there is a bad connection on the main board you will have to take a look at the bottom of the Ultimaker. This sounds more difficult than it is:
- Move the build plate up by hand so you can better reach the screws in the bottom panel.
- Place the Ultimaker on its right side so you can access the bottom side.
- You will find a big metal cover. Loosen the two screws with which it is attached to the bottom of the Ultimaker and remove the cover. You can do this by using a 2 mm hex wrench on the screws at the inside of the Ultimaker and pliers to hold the lock nut at the other side.
- Now you will see the main board. Look for the sensor cable, which is connected to 'TEMP1'.
- Make sure the cable is connected to 'TEMP1'. If you have an Ultimaker 2, Ultimaker 2 Extended or Ultimaker 2 Go also ensure the thin (red end wires) wires are properly inserted in the connector.
As an extra test you could try swapping the PT100 sensor (TEMP1) with the one of the heated bed (TEMP3). Try heating both and check if you still get the same error:
- When the PT100 sensor is connected to 'TEMP3', try heating the heated bed. Are you now getting the "ERROR - STOPPED TEMP SENSOR BED"? It seems that the problem has moved along with the sensor, so most likely the sensor is broken.
- When the heated bed sensor is connected to 'TEMP1', try heating the nozzle. Are you now getting the "ERROR - STOPPED TEMP SENSOR"? The problem is still at the same place (TEMP1), so your PT100 sensor is probably fine (double-check by testing 'TEMP3'). In this case we can conclude that the main board causes the problem.
