Installing Ultimaker Cura
For the Ultimaker 3, we recommend our free software Ultimaker Cura to prepare your model for 3D printing. For novices, it makes it easy to get great results. For experts, there are over 200 settings to adjust to your needs.
For the Ultimaker 3 you must use Ultimaker Cura 2.3 or higher. It is recommended to always use the latest stable version.
System requirements

- Windows Vista or higher (64 bit)
Note: For Windows 32 bit is supported until Ultimaker Cura 2.3.
- Mac OSX 10.7 or higher (64 bit)
- Linux Ubuntu 14.04, Fedora 23, OpenSuse 13.2, ArchLinux or higher (64 bit)
System requirements
- OpenGL 2 compatible graphics chip
- Intel Core 2 or AMD Athlon 64 or newer
- At least 4GB of RAM (8GB or more is recommended)
Installation
Ultimaker Cura software can be downloaded here. After downloading, open the installer and run the installation wizard to complete the installation. When opening Ultimaker Cura for the first time, you will be asked to select your 3D printer, the Ultimaker 3 or Ultimaker 3 Extended. No other configuration is required and you can directly start using it.
