Designing a Penny Trap with OpenSCAD
mathgrrl
A quick introduction to 3D design with OpenSCAD, suitable for students who've never written a line of code before. In this lesson, students create an "impossible object" -- a penny trapped in a 3D-printed cage -- and along the way learn about basic OpenSCAD concepts such as spheres, cylinders, resolution, hulls, differences, modules, and even a simple beveling trick.
Duration: 1 hour
Prerequisites: Basic computer skills - ability to use a mouse, download OpenSCAD, type, navigate, save/find files on a computer, etc.
