Thiago Medeiros Araujo and LEHVOSS Group team work to create materials that are certified to meet essential technical, quality, and safety requirements under the German Product Safety Act. LEHVOSS Group’s early adoption and co-development of TÜV SÜD’s Process Certification Program aims to decrease skepticism surrounding the adoption of 3D printing technology.

“Having worked on the aerospace industry and have participated in some certification processes made me realize how time and money-consuming this can be,” Thiago says. “Many small and medium-sized companies would not be able to afford it, and the big ones would need too much time to do it themselves”.

To overcome this bottleneck, Thiago and the LEHVOSS Group team decided to take the effort in-house for its customers, removing another barrier to adoption of the technology. When industries are able to see 3D printing side-by-side with traditional manufacturing methods, Thiago believes, its advantages are clear beyond the manufacturing process itself – as a supply chain disruptor, and enabling distributed manufacturing and cheaper, more ecofriendly local production.

I realized that I can actually make a difference for the 3D printing industry by exploring new materials. I am always looking for ways in which I can make a difference to increase the technology’s adoption.
