Cura 5.13 is now available. We are excited to announce the official release of UltiMaker Cura 5.13. This latest version introduces native support for our newest hardware, brings highly requested advanced slicing settings, and includes crucial bug fixes to streamline your 3D printing workflow.

Here is a look at the major upgrades and features included in this release.

Native Support for the UltiMaker Factor 4 Plus

UltiMaker Cura 5.13 officially introduces the brand-new UltiMaker Factor 4 Plus printer to the ecosystem. With fully validated hardware profiles built directly into the software, you can seamlessly prepare your print jobs to take full advantage of this new industrial system right out of the box.

Advanced Support and Infill Settings

This release introduces several new settings to give you granular control over structural generation and print times:

  • Lightning Support Infill: We have brought the popular "Lightning" pattern to support infill. Paired with new supporting settings (Support Lightning Angle, Overhang Angle, Prune Angle, and Straightening Angle), you can precisely generate and control lightning structures for your supports.
  • Support Infill Line Multiplier: You can now increase the quantity of infill lines. When an even number is paired with lightning support, it elegantly produces a single extrusion line for each island.
  • Infill Start/End Preferences: Gain direct control over the exact starting location of your infill for optimized toolpaths.

Other new settings

We are constantly refining the slicing engine to give you absolute control over your part's final quality:

  • Temperature Delta Top Surface: You can now print your top surfaces at a different temperature to achieve the perfect surface finish.
  • Minimum Hole Area in Brim Support: This new feature filters out tiny holes in the support brim, resulting in cleaner, more consistent build plate adhesion.
  • Initial Layer Wall Ordering: Contributed by community member HellAholic, this setting gives you direct control over the order in which walls are printed on the crucial first layer.
  • Retract Before Outer Wall: We have added more options to help you fine-tune retraction behavior when the printhead travels to the outer wall.

Profile Upgrades

  • High-Speed S-Line Improvements: S-Line profiles have been updated to strengthen tree supports and improve seam behavior. Infill now ends closer to the seam, and the printhead travels to the seam unretracted for a cleaner finish.
  • Method Series Material Detection: Improved automatic material detection for Method line printers now automatically selects the correct support material for the raft interface.

Essential Bug Fixes

We have squashed numerous bugs to ensure a smoother, more reliable slicing experience. Key fixes include:

  • Support Blocker Fix: Support blockers now function correctly even when assigned to a disabled extruder, eliminating previous slicing conflicts.
  • Tree Support Fixes: Resolved an issue where the tree support interface layer would be missing, and fixed a bug where thin support structures would mistakenly generate within tree supports.
  • Speed Corrections: Fixed an overly aggressive overhanging wall speed that caused extremely slow printing in overhang areas. We also corrected travel speed applications on layer switches that were causing high-speed Z-travels.
  • Slicing Conflicts Resolved: Fixed slicing failures when combining Raft build plate adhesion with Support Lightning Infill, and corrected an issue where randomized infill failed to work for infill skin support.
  • UI & File Improvements: Fixed an issue where clicking the "Sign in to Digital Factory" button twice would fail to log in, resolved UI overlaps with the profile changes notification, and fixed an issue where certain 3MF files would incorrectly load with invalid setting configurations.
