Perceived benefits in Mexico

Mexico is a fairly well-developed market. It has been estimated that there are 113,000 printers in use in Mexico in 2019 – which is more than Japan. Increases in awareness, adoption, and knowledge in the last year have now pushed Mexico ahead in the 3D Printing Sentiment Index.

US outsourcing to Mexican factories can help to act as a spur for adoption as US customers and parent companies seek to promote more efficient manufacturing practices in their Mexican partners. Some local commentators had already predicted significant growth in 3D printing driven by the role played by many Mexican companies in automotive, aerospace, medical parts, and other industries.¹ These predictions now seem to be becoming a reality.

The market may be set for more future growth as 58% of Mexican respondents believe 3D printing will have a significant positive impact on their business in the next 12 months. However, there remains a significant market education job still to be done (48% acknowledge there are issues with knowledge levels among their colleagues that may hamper faster adoption).
