NEW YORK/UTRECHT, Netherlands, October 10, 2023—UltiMaker, a global leader in desktop 3D printing, today announced significant improvements to printing speeds for the S series 3D printers. With the latest advancements, customers can increase print speeds by up to double, while maintaining the S series’s notable print success rates of 95% or more.

Powered by UltiMaker Cura, the world's most popular 3D printing slicer, and driven by optimizations to Intent profiles for UltiMaker’s print cores and materials, customers can now accelerate their printing without compromising on print success with S series 3D printers. With the latest Cura 5.5 release, the S series now includes a range of optimized speed profiles, standardized across various line types and further fine-tuned when printing with various print profiles and UltiMaker-branded materials, including PLA, Tough PLA, PETG, and ABS. Other improvements include optimized handling of material flow rates and nozzle pressures when switching between line types, ensuring no loss of print quality during transitions; smooth internal wall pathing, reducing print time and irregular movement; and reduced erratic infill motions, which smoothen the movement of the print head.

"We know that speed is only one part of the 3D printing success formula. UltiMaker printers have been trusted for years based on their reliability,” said Michiel Alting von Geusau, CEO, UltiMaker. “We aim to create better experiences for our customers, and we believe that by optimizing the S series to speed up printing, our customers can accelerate returns on investment, enable faster time to market, and leverage the limitless possibilities of 3D printing.”

The benefits of these speed improvements extend beyond simply faster printing. Customers can shorten their development cycles, enabling faster design adjustments and facilitating hands-on feedback from stakeholders. Customers can also experience more agile production processes, allowing for rapid response times to changing market demands. Additionally, with a digital inventory on-demand, customers can increase their supply chain resilience by reducing warehousing costs and safeguarding against disruptions.

The S series is UltiMaker’s most popular and versatile line of professional 3D printers, compatible with over 280 materials and an expanding selection of print profiles from the UltiMaker Marketplace. The S7 3D printer, the newest addition to the family, delivers superior print quality and an unparalleled 3D printing experience. With an integrated Air Manager to filter out up to 95% of UFPs, an enclosed build chamber to reduce air drafts, a new inductive print head sensor for more accuracy and less noise, and a PEI-coated flexible build plate for easier print removal, the UltiMaker S7 3D printer offers the best solution to realize these improvements.
